James Anderson

We first knew from the Clare Balding show a few years ago that Jimmy Anderson was into wine. England’s all-time leading wicket taker appeared with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Cipriani to blind taste some sporting wine; a competition won by our very own Schalk Burger’s Hat Trick! His own wines come from the Languedoc region and were created from his own grape selection and tasting decisions.

The WineJimmy’s ‘The Numbers Collection’ celebrates cricketing milestones from his outstanding test match career.  Anderson worked with the vineyard of Domaine Preignes Le Vieux, based in Beziers, which has huge history dating back to the 13th Century. The award-winning family produces wine is notable for its light, fresh and elegant style. Passionate about wine and heavily involved in the production process himself, Jimmy wanted to capture the essence of treasured family holidays in the South of France. His red blend captures his highest ever test score, the No 81 and his white blend his normal batting position the No 11!Sporting Connection Jimmy Anderson is the all-time leading wicket-taker among fast bowlers and holds the record of most wickets for England in both Test and One-Day International (ODI) cricket. He is the first fast   bowler as well as the first English bowler, and the fourth overall, to pass 600 Test wickets. Jimmy is a true English sporting hero and we are proud to look after his wines. The Winemaker Says:The Sporting Wine Club seemed a natural partner for The Numbers Collection and we are excited to be on board. My passion for southern French wine is shared by the club and combining it with sport and charity is a winning mix. We are delighted that The Sporting Wine Club will be supporting the LCCC Foundation through Jimmy’s collection.
